Florida bound...

We are in the midst of our second selling season in Florida during the winter months.  (Our first time South was in 2009.  Our schedule ran from mid-February to the first week in April.)  This year we left Michigan on December 28th, and experienced some heavy snow and cold as we drove through Ohio and part of Kentucky.  We were very excited to leave the winter weather behind.... or so we thought!  We arrived in Florida only to find winter temperatures here.  What a surprise!  Even though we are here about 6 weeks earlier this year, we never thought we would need gloves, scarves, and winter jackets.  With our first show in Ft. Myers on the weekend of January 2nd & 3rd, we had a very good show in spite of the cooler temp's on Sunday.  The next two shows were more challenging, however, particularly Punta Gorda on January 9th & 10th.  Saturday the temperature hovered around 40 degrees with rain all day long.  Unfortunately we closed shop (along with all the other artists) on Saturday around 1 pm.  Sunday turned out to be fairly nice with sunshine all day, though it only warmed up to 50 degrees.  Needless to say the show could have been better, but that's the risk with outdoor shows.  The weather can sometimes determine your level of success.

Carl has been working on some new, fun & funky necklaces.  He's been using very tropical colors and these are very reasonably priced between $129 and $139.  So far interest has been very good and we hope these new designs will be a hit!  As soon as we have photos available we will have them on the website for viewing.

Our home base while in Florida is Deerfield Beach, which borders the south end of Boca Raton.  Very nice community.  This weekend we head to Tampa Bay for a show in Safety Harbor.  They are predicting 70 degrees for the weekend with scattered thundershowers.  Hopefully the rain will be intermittent, or better yet, non-existent!  We're hoping for a good turnout, so wish us luck.

In the meantime, our schedule is available on our website, www.clschneider.com.  We have 9 more shows to do including this weekend.  The good news is the weather is warming up.  It's 70 degrees as I write this on Thursday, 1/14/10, at 5 pm.  Yeah!
